Artsy Seattle Apartments to be Built in Police Parking Lot

Here is a great article that I found and wanted to link to as a follow up to my article on Seattle apartments.

Mayor Mike McGinn annouced the development of a mixed use development to be built in the parking lot of a Seattle police precint. The development will include affordable Seattle apartments, retail stores and arts space.

“There’s more to be done for the deal, but what we’ve done is laid the groundwork,” McGinn said at a news conference. “There’s a commitment from the city and the community to make this work,…This is a win for affordable housing. This is a win for arts space.”

The 29,000 square foot space is currently a parking lot, fueling station, and mobile command center for the Seattle Police Department. If all goes as planned the property will have ground floor retail and performance space and 85 affordable Seattle apartments, according to the folks at https://www.seattlepi.com/local/article/From-police-parking-lot-to-arty-apartment-complex-1405574.php.
